Sammy Hagar sang Bad Motor Scooter while in Ronnie Montrose' truly great band. he could've died right after that album came out and he would still deserve a seat in Valhalla.

Great piece. I interviewed Sammy in 2002, and found him equally likable. I got him talking a bit about his alien encounters — "They essentially downloaded my brain" — but he didn't want to reveal too much because he said he was saving the whole story for his autobiography. Sadly, he barely talks about it in the book; I suspect his editor or personal handlers headed that one off at the pass.

That book had some other hands in it for sure -- the last 1/4 of it covers all of the riveting business strategy of Sammy's various enterprises, which was kinda dullsville and really should have been saved for another book. I thought Joel did a good job on it though.

Yeah, parts of it were very entertaining, and I got a much better sense of who the guy was/is from it. But give me brain-downloading aliens over business strategies any day of the damn week!
